Robert W. Traven, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine
Dr. Traven was born in Elgin, Illinois and is a third-generation chiropractor. He is preceeded by his father who graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1957 and his grandmother who also graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1943.
Dr. Traven completed both his B.S. in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. Dr. Traven joined The Orthopedic Center in February of 2020.
Dr. Traven offers MedX Rehabilitation, which are FDA approved medical devices for strengthening both the lumbar and cervical areas of the spine. More than 75 peer-reviewed medical journal articles confirm that MedX technology can decrease chronic spine-related pain issues, restore spinal function, reduce or eliminate the need for ongoing care, and improve patient quality of life.
He also specializes in Graston Technique® which is a technique used to treat a variety of soft tissue and sports-related injuries including, but not limited to, heel pain (plantar fasciitis), tennis and golfer’s elbow, shoulder pain, and IT band and piriformis issues commonly seen in running-related injuries.
Dr. Traven is certified in electrodiagnostics through the American College of Functional Neurology. Electrodiagnostics are used in conjunction with clinical examination to test the function of muscles and nerves and can help determine the causes of back or neck pain, numbness and tingling, and strength loss.
